See Battle Abbey in a whole new light as it is bathed in dramatic illuminations for the very first time. Have your cameras at the ready as you explore the atmospheric splendour of the abbey grounds and ruins lit up with all the colours of the rainbow. And of course, it wouldn’t be Battle Abbey without illuminating the battlefield!

Soak up the story of the Battle of Hastings, as you encounter characters bringing the story to life. Follow the trail and take in atmospheric installations, real life encampments and immersive soundscapes – there is intrigue at every turn. Gaze up at the stunning vistas of light against ancient architecture as we transport you back across the ages. A unique and magical experience awaits!

We’ll also be serving up a wide range of culinary delights. Warm up with a hot chocolate or, for the grown ups, grab a glass of hot mead or mulled cider. Afterwards, treat yourself to something to eat in our café or out by the lights. For those with a sweet tooth, we have open fire toasting of marshmallows and traditional Saxon and Norman cakes on offer as well. The shop will also be open for those of you who want to do some Christmas shopping.
